The Universal Sole November Trail Challenge
The Universal Sole November Trail Challenge is a trail race held at Wolf Road Woods, part of the Palos Trail System in Willow Springs, Illinois. The event uses a looped trail course with mixed surfaces including crushed limestone, dirt, rocks, roots and possible mud, and features both double track and single track with undulating terrain and occasional hills.
Distances offered:
- 8 mile two loop course
- 4 mile one loop option
Every registered runner receives a custom USOLE Trail Challenge premium wicking running shirt. Post race provisions include craft and nonalcoholic beers in limited quantities, bottled water at the start/finish area, granola bars and bananas at the finish, and a chili with a vegetarian option for finishers. Due to forest preserve regulations, no aid stations are located on the trails; an aid station is provided at the start/finish so participants can fill bottles before the race. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bottle or hydration pack.
Awards are given to overall winners in female, male and nonbinary categories for both distances and include gift certificates, plus age group awards by standard age brackets for each event. The series is dedicated in memory of local running community members and a portion of proceeds will benefit Anixter Center and Girls on the Run Chicago. Strollers and leashed dogs are allowed with a request that they start in the last corral. There are no refunds, exchanges or transfers and parking is available in the forest preserve lots.
