Fonta Flora 50K and Half Marathon
The Fonta Flora 50K, Half Marathon, and relay events take place along trails and lake banks at Lake James State Park near Nebo, North Carolina, with the start and finish at Fonta Flora Brewery's Whippoorwill Farm. The courses follow mostly single track with short sections of gravel and pavement and are described as gentle rolling trails along the lake banks.
Distances and key numbers
- 50K: ~31.5 miles, ~2,400 ft elevation gain, ~30 miles single track
- Half Marathon: ~13.1 miles, ~850 ft elevation gain, ~12.8 miles single track
- 50K 2 person relay and 50K 3 person relay also offered
Relay details: a new relay option includes 2 person teams with legs of roughly 13.5 and 18.5 miles, and 3 person teams with legs of roughly 13.5, 12.5, and 6 miles in that order. Top finishing relay teams receive awards in Male, Female, and Co-Ed categories. All relay teams compete together for placement.
Additional event information notes packet pickup at the brewery the evening before and on race mornings, a costume contest with prizes of free entry to a 2026 Tanawha Adventures race for winners, and that portions of proceeds support trail development including the Fonta Flora State Trail. Registration closes October 22 at 11:59 PM ET. Refund policy: 75% until July 15, 50% until September 10, then no refunds; no transfers or deferments.
