Lake Rhodhiss Trailfest in Valdese, NC takes a new format for 2026 as a timed loop event with options for three hour, six hour, and twelve hour efforts. The course is a roughly 3 mile loop that includes about two miles of trail and one mile of crushed cinder greenway. Participants aim to cover as many miles as possible within their chosen time window, or they may use the event to pursue a specific distance goal.
The change replaces previous distances that included a 5K, 10K, 10M, and a fun run. The six hour option is given as an example for reaching a 50K at a steady 5 mph pace, while the twelve hour option allows more time for hiking or slower paces.
The event serves as the kickoff for Great State Trail Day the following weekend. The start and finish area will provide space for a 10x10 tent or table and an assortment of food and beverages will be available during the races.
