Zombie Run 5K and One Mile Family Fun Run : Morganton, NC
The Rotary Club of Morganton, with sponsorship support from UNC Health Blue Ridge, will present a themed running event on October 10, 2026 at Courthouse Square, 102 East Union Street, Morganton, NC. The program includes a 5K Zombie Run and a One Mile Family Fun Run held in the same downtown area, followed by a fall after party with food and music.
Event formats:
- 5K Zombie Run with Velcro belts carrying three flags.
- 1 mile Family Fun Run for families and walkers.
In the 5K Zombie Run, runners wear Velcro belts with three flags. Zombies are stationed at points along the route and attempt to remove runners’ flags. Runners turn in collected flags for prizes, and overall 1st through 3rd place awards recognize those who finish with the fastest times and the most flags. Timers will be stationed along the route; a timeclock will be located at the finish line and volunteers will assist with finish-line procedures.
The Family Fun Run does not include chasing by zombies, though costumed participants may be present along the route. Fun Run participants receive two special gifts after the run. Zombie Run registration starts at $30 with scheduled increases later in the season; Zombie Run entrants are assured a long sleeve event shirt through 2026-09-25. Proceeds will benefit Burke County Habitat for Humanity and The Enola Group.
