Florida Outlaw Ultra Overview
The Florida Outlaw Ultra takes place at the Carney Island Recreation and Conservation Area in Ocklawaha, Florida. The event is set against the backdrop of Lake Weir in Marion County and features a variety of terrains, including sandhill sections, wooded trails, wetlands, and wide-open spaces typical of local conservation areas.
Participants compete on a 5K loop, with the objective of completing as many laps as possible within their chosen time limit. The event offers several duration-based and distance-based options:
- 20K Trail Run: A fixed-distance race consisting of four laps.
- 6 Hour Trail Run: A timed event to complete the maximum number of loops in six hours.
- 12 Hour Trail Run: A timed event spanning from the morning into the evening.
- 24 Hour Trail Run: An endurance race running through the day and night.
- 24 Hour Relay: A team event for three to six runners to rotate and accumulate miles.
Support and Amenities
A single aid station is located at the start and finish line area, providing hydration, first aid, snacks, and electrolytes. This location also serves as the designated zone for support crews and team tents, allowing runners access to personal gear and supplies at the end of every loop.
All participants receive a long-sleeved cotton shirt, a wooden finisher medal, an event patch, a decal, and a commemorative metal sign. Awards are presented to top finishers in various categories.
