LSSC Monster Dash
The LSSC Monster Dash takes place in Leesburg, Florida, on the campus located at 9501 US Highway 441. This athletic event offers participants the opportunity to run through a course that features views of Silver Lake. The event is organized to benefit the Lake-Sumter State College Foundation, with all proceeds supporting student scholarships and educational programs at the college.
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 10K (6.2 miles)
- Virtual Racer
The races are timed, and the organizers provide placement recognition for the top runners in each age category. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes during the event. Registered participants receive an event t-shirt and a medal, though these items are only guaranteed for those who register by October 16, 2026.
The Virtual Racer option allows individuals to support the foundation without physically running the course on-site. Virtual participants also receive a t-shirt and medal, which can be collected from the Foundation Office after the event concludes. The physical races are held on the college grounds, providing a centralized location for local runners and supporters of the institution.
