LSSC Monster Dash
The Monster Dash is an annual event held at the Lake-Sumter State College Leesburg Campus. This family-friendly event takes place on a course that runs around Silver Lake, providing participants with scenic lake views throughout the race. The event is part of the LSSC Foundation's initiatives, with proceeds supporting scholarships and education at the college.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- 5K
- 10K
Although the run is described as a fun run, all participants are timed. Prizes are awarded at the conclusion of the event to the top runners in various categories, organized by both age group and gender.
The event features several amenities for those who register. All registered participants receive a commemorative t-shirt and a gift bag. While the race is professionally timed, the atmosphere is informal, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes while they run.
