Firefly 3K Fun Run : The Morton Arboretum
The Firefly 3K Fun Run is a family-oriented evening event held at The Morton Arboretum on Friday, June 19, 2026. The race follows the main paved road on the Arboretum’s East Side, moves through tree and plant collections, and descends Frost Hill. The course is relatively flat and described as accessible to runners, walkers, and wheelchair users.
Registration opens on April 21 and is managed online through RunSignUp. Registration tiers include early, regular, and race day rates; registration includes a branded running shirt and an invitation to a postrace party. Virtual participation is available with a separate registration window; virtual participants may complete the distance at a location of their choosing and may access the Arboretum during a specified virtual participation period. Virtual race packets and apparel are mailed at no charge.
The event is noncompetitive: the Firefly 3K will not be timed and will not feature awards. Strollers are permitted and children in strollers do not require registration. Children who participate on foot require registration and an adult-signed waiver. Spectator admission may be purchased separately and includes access to the postrace party but does not allow entry to race participation.
Onsite services and policies include free on-site parking with accessible spaces in parking lot P-1, a free gear check near the Visitor Center, portable and accessible restrooms, shoe recycling, recovery snacks and Boxed Water at the finish, and a reminder that no water stations will be available along the course.
