Event overview
The Firefighter 5k - A Free Prediction Run is an inaugural community 5K organized by Bold Coast Runners at the Pembroke fire station in Pembroke, ME (6 Liberty Hill Road, Pembroke, ME 04666). The event is free to enter and is being used to test new timing equipment. Organizers are accepting donations for the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department and suggest a $20 donation.
Format and course details
The event uses a prediction format: participants predict their 5K time during registration, then aim to run the course as close to that time as possible. The person closest to their predicted time wins a $100 Running Warehouse gift certificate. Participants are encouraged to run at their own pace or with a friend; the emphasis is on personal pacing rather than finishing order.
The course is described as a 5K with rolling hills, a lung burner, and views of Cobscook Bay and the Penamaquan River. The fire station will be open before and after the run for warmth, food, and gathering. Homemade bagels will be provided and participants may bring a small dish. Registration opens February 25, 2026, and online registration must be completed by March 16, 2026. Participants will receive a bib for RFID equipment testing.
