Firecracker 5K Run - Mount Vernon
The Firecracker event on July 11, 2026 is a community running and walking event at Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Mt. Vernon, KY. It offers both a timed 5K run and an untimed 4K walk on a flat Renfro Valley course. Proceeds benefit the Mount Vernon Lions Club.
Registration opens June 3, 2026 and closes June 22, 2026. The registration fee is $20. The fee includes an event t-shirt for participants who register by Monday, June 29, 2026; after that date shirt inventory may be limited.
Awards recognize overall male and female winners and the top three male and female finishers in each age group for runners: 12 and under; 13 to 19; 20 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 to 79; and 80 and over. Walkers are recognized with awards for the top three fastest male and female walkers.
The event also includes Student Strides 2026. Students age 4 to 18 may participate free of charge though the free registration does not include a shirt. Students who complete at least seven races in the series will receive a $25 gift card and a custom t-shirt at the end of the 2026 series.
