Event
The York 5K takes place on 9 October 2026 at the University of York Sport Village Cycle Circuit, Heslington East, Lakeside Way, York, YO10 5FG. The race is part of a series held monthly from February to November at the same venue. The distance is 5 Kilometres and the course profile is flat. The event is chip-timed and holds an England Athletics licence; results appear on Power of 10. Finish-line results are sent by text and kilometre splits are published the next day. A chocolate bar is handed out at the finish.
Course and facilities
The race uses the cycle circuit and consists of five laps. The course is on road surfaces and is listed as suitable for wheelchairs. Facilities at race headquarters include water stations, distance markers and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store.
Entry, limits and rules
Online entry opens at 10:00 on 5 December 2025 and online entry closes at 10:00 on race day. Entry on the day is not available. Entry is limited to 200 runners; all 200 places are shown as remaining. Fee options include single-race and short race-pass prices: affiliated single-race £10.00, unaffiliated single-race £12.00, York Race Pass (Oct-Nov) affiliated £18.00, unaffiliated £22.00. Race numbers with embedded timing chips are issued to first-time entrants; previously issued red 5K numbers from 2020-25 may be reused if recorded on the entry form. One free number replacement is allowed in a 12-month period; subsequent replacements cost £4. Deferral is allowed once to the next race in the calendar year if requested at least three days before race day. There are no refunds and places cannot be transferred.
