Event overview
The York 5K is a monthly road race held at the University of York Sport Village Cycle Circuit. The distance is 5 Kilometres and the course is flat, run over five laps on a cycle circuit. The event is organised by Even Splits and is EA licensed. Entry on the day is not available; online entry closes at 10:00 on race day. Entry is limited to 200 participants and remaining places were listed as 195.
Timing, results and race number
Races are chip-timed. Results are sent by text at the finish and kilometre splits are published the next day. Results appear on Power of 10. First-time entrants collect a race number with an embedded timing chip that can be reused at York and Leeds 5K events. Previously issued RED 5K race numbers from 2020-25 may be used again in 2026 if recorded on the entry form. Entrants are entitled to one free number replacement within a 12 month period; subsequent replacements cost £4.
Entry fees and rules
Single-race and multi-race pass options are offered with different prices for affiliated and unaffiliated entrants. Prices listed include fees, card charges and administration. Deferral is allowed once to the next race in the calendar year if requested at least three days before race day. There are no refunds and places cannot be transferred to another runner.
Course facilities
Facilities listed include water stations, distance markers and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers and no baggage store.
