Knaresborough Soft Shoe Shuffle : Its Grim Up North Running
The Knaresborough Soft Shoe Shuffle is part of the Knaresborough Running Festival organised by Its Grim Up North Running. The event is based at the start of the Beryl Burton Cycleway in the park in Knaresborough and does not start, finish, or register at Mother Shipton's Cave. Parking is available in a nearby public pay and display car park within a short walk of registration.
The course uses a 6.5 mile loop with participants completing a set number of laps according to their chosen distance. The route climbs gently through parkland and follows a converted railway track between Knaresborough and Harrogate, mixing quiet country lanes, footpaths and cycle paths. Feed stations are placed at roughly three mile intervals and provide water, snacks and fuel. Public toilets are located in the nearby car park.
The event is described as fully marshalled and signed, with a bespoke finisher medal and post-race treats for finishers. The organiser asks runners to use a reusable cup or bottle as this is a cup-less event. Headphone use is restricted for safety; bone-conduction or one-in-one in-ear devices are permitted and runners should be aware of possible unmanned road crossings. Road shoes are advised for the underfoot conditions reported.
