Altra Yorkshire Marathon
The Altra Yorkshire Marathon is held in and around the historic city of York. The event starts at the University of York and the route leads outside the city walls into surrounding countryside, passing Stockton-on-the-Forest, Buttercrambe Moor Wood and Balloon Tree Farm before returning to finish on the university campus. Thousands of runners and spectators gather in the city on race day.
The Event Village is on University of York Campus West and the designated baggage store is on Campus South. Entrants must be 18 years or older on the day. Race numbers are posted to UK addresses with a postal entry deadline after 25 September and are typically delivered about two weeks before the event; numbers are not posted to non UK postal addresses and can be collected from the Race Office on event weekend.
Included for participants are a finisher medal, chip timing, a goody bag and an optional finisher t shirt. On course there are fixed water stations supplying 330 ml bottles and recycling bins, Applied Nutrition isotonic drinks and energy gels, and pacers sponsored by Arla Protein who carry finish time flags. First aid stations are located near water stations, with a first aid and recovery unit close to the finish. Photography, post‑race massage and clothes donation arrangements are provided in the Event Village. Organisers promote sustainable travel and a JogOn trainer drop off scheme.
