Event details
The Altra Yorkshire Marathon is a 26.2 miles road marathon held in York on Sunday 18 October 2026. The start line is at the University of York. Entrants must be 18 years or over. Included with entry are chip timing, a finisher’s goody bag, an option to pre-order a finisher t-shirt with sublimation print and iTAB, and an exclusive medal.
Race numbers are posted approximately two weeks before the event. Address changes can be made up to six weeks before the race. Race numbers will not be posted to non-UK postal addresses; overseas participants may collect numbers at the Race Office on the event weekend. Runners must not allow others to run using their race number; this will lead to disqualification.
On-course services and logistics
On course there will be water stations supplying 330ml bottles and High5 energy stations offering Zero tabs and energy gels. Bins and recycling facilities are provided at water stations. Pacers with finish-time flags, sponsored by Arla Protein, will be available. Medical personnel will be positioned at regular intervals, with fixed first aid stations near water stations, a first aid unit and recovery area near the start and finish, and roaming first aiders in the Event Village. Toilets are located around the stadium.
Baggage must be checked into the designated Baggage Store using the tear-off strip on the race number. Clothing discarded at the start will be collected and donated unless placed in the baggage store. The Event Village will host food and drink concessions and partner charities. Photography will be taken by MarathonPhotos and will be available to purchase. Travel options include car, park and ride services (Pullman from Elvington Airfield), city-centre shuttle and regular bus and rail links; car parking at the University of York is for Blue Badge holders only.
