The Yorkshire Marathon

Event overview

The Altra Yorkshire Marathon is a road marathon of 26.2 miles taking place on Sunday 18 October 2026. The start line is at the University of York. Entrants must be 18 years or over. Included with entry are chip timing, a finisher’s goody bag, an exclusive medal and the option to pre-order a finisher t-shirt with sublimation print and iTAB. Race numbers are posted approximately two weeks before the event when a UK postal address is provided; overseas postal addresses will not receive race numbers and those entrants can collect numbers from the Race Office on event weekend. Address changes are accepted up to six weeks before the event.

On-the-day and practical information

Designated baggage storage is available; participants should attach the tear-off strip from their race number to their bag before check-in. Water stations on course will provide 330 ml bottles and recycling bins; High5 energy stations will supply Zero tabs and energy gels. Pacers sponsored by Arla Protein will be on course with flags indicating target finish times. Toilets will be located around the stadium; runners using facilities other than those provided may be disqualified. Medical support includes first aid stations near water stations, a first aid unit and recovery area near the start and finish, and roaming first aiders in the Event Village. Photographs will be taken by MarathonPhotos and will be available to purchase.

Transport and partners

Car parking at the University of York on race day is for Blue Badge holders only. Park and ride services, including a Pullman Park and Ride from Elvington Airfield, and a city-centre shuttle from York Railway Station (Stand J) will operate to the Event Village.
