Join the York 5K on 14 August 2026 at the University of York Sport Village for a fast, flat five kilometre on the cycle circuit. Part of Even Splits monthly series, the race is chip timed and welcomes runners and wheelchair athletes.

Event

The York 5K takes place on 14 August 2026 at the University of York Sport Village, Cycle Circuit, Heslington East. The race is organised by Even Splits and is one of a monthly series held from February to November on the same circuit. Online entry opens 5 December 2025 and closes on race day.

Course and facilities

The race distance is 5 kilometres on a road, flat cycle circuit. The course consists of five laps and is marked with distance markers. Facilities at the venue include water stations and toilets. There are no changing facilities, no showers, and no baggage store. The event is listed as suitable for wheelchairs.

Timing and results

The race is chip-timed. Results are sent by text at the finish and kilometre splits are published the next day. First-time entrants are assigned a race number with an embedded timing chip to use at York and Leeds events. Previously issued RED 5K race numbers from 2020-25 may be reused in 2026 if recorded on the entry form. Entrants are entitled to one free number replacement in a 12 month period; subsequent replacements cost £4.

Entry, limits and policies

Entry is limited to 200 places; remaining places are shown as 200. Single race fees are £10 (affiliated) and £12 (unaffiliated). A race pass for August to November is £34 (affiliated) or £40 (unaffiliated). Entry on the day is not available. Places may be deferred once to the next race in the calendar year if requested at least three days before race day. There are no refunds and places cannot be transferred.
