The Big Bear Run 10k

The Big Bear Run is a first edition road race over 10 km held at Askham Bryan Wildlife & Conservation Park in Askham Bryan, York, United Kingdom. The route starts and finishes within the park grounds and follows closed public roads through nearby villages on a chip timed England Athletics course.

Race entry includes access to the wildlife and conservation park after the event, and spectator passes are available. At the finish there is cake and a themed medal for participants. A virtual entry option is offered alongside the in-person event.

The 2026 event supports the Asiatic Black Bears rescue programme run by the park team. The description notes that these bears are native to mountain regions across several Asian countries and have historically been exploited for bile used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Extraction of bear bile was made illegal in 2005, yet some bears remain confined in small metal cages, which is cited as a reason rehoming and rescue work continues to be a priority.

Organisers are listed as Curly's Athletes and tickets were offered through EtchRock, with different pricing for in-person and virtual entries according to the event information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
