York Triathlon
York Triathlon takes place at York Sport Village on the University of York Heslington campus on Sunday 16th August 2026. The event begins with a swim in a heated indoor 25 m pool, continues with a flat, multi-lap bike course on roads closed to traffic, and finishes with a flat, multi-lap run. Swim start, transition and finish are all in close proximity.
The event is electronic chip timed and awards an official finishers medal to all entrants. Competitors must count their own pool lengths and their own laps on the bike and run. It is compulsory to wear a cycle helmet for the bike section. The venue is described as spectator friendly and located close to York city centre. There are no cut off times.
Race formats and distances include:
- Sprint: 400 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
- Super Sprint: 200 m swim, 10 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Fun: 200 m swim, 10 km cycle, 2.5 km run
- Sprint Relay: 400 m swim, 20 km cycle, 5 km run
- CRUK Wave and CRUK Team Relay: 200 m swim, 10 km cycle, 2.5 km run
Minimum age for the listed adult distances is 14 years on race day. Race day information and individual start times are emailed to competitors 7 to 10 days before the event and race packs are collected at on-site registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
