FraidyCat 5K, 8K and Meow Mile
The event on October 25, 2026, includes multiple chip-timed running races that start and finish with electronic timing. The races are based at Prairie Point Elementary School, 3650 Grove Rd, Oswego, Illinois. The course is mostly on a bike path and is not a closed course, so participants should watch for moving vehicles and traffic.

Costumes are encouraged. Baby joggers and strollers are allowed but must start at the back of the field. Bicycles, skates, scooters, skateboards and dogs are prohibited. Team Triumph teams are welcome. Shirt sizes are not guaranteed for registrations after October 1, 2026.
A portion of event proceeds supports FraidyCat Scholarships for graduating seniors at Oswego High School and Oswego East High School who have significant community volunteer involvement.
Packet pickup is available at the Chamber office, 25 E Jackson St, Oswego, on the days before the event and on race day onsite at Prairie Point School during the published pickup window. Race day registration is available on site via QR code; on site registration closes before the races begin.
Prizes and awards include ribbons and age group awards for the Meow Mile, overall and age group awards for the 5K and 8K, and finisher medals for 5K and 8K participants. Parking is limited at Prairie Point School and at the Park District lot off Plainfield Rd. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
