Bat Race 5K & 10K : Batavia United Way
The Batavia United Way Bat Race is a chip timed running event held in downtown Batavia that uses River and State Street and sections of the Fox River Bike Path. The event includes road running distances for adults, students, and children and draws participants from around 30 surrounding zip codes.
Distances offered:
- 5K out-and-back course
- 10K
- Kids 1/4 mile fun run
Awards are presented to the top three male and top three female finishers in the 5K and 10K. All participants receive a finishing medal and a certificate. The first 600 5K and 10K registrants are guaranteed a T-shirt and a swag bag.
Packet pick-up is available ahead of the race at Sturdy Shelter Brewing (10 Shumway Ave, Batavia, IL) and at a tent at State Street and North River Road on race morning. The event features music, snacks, and a Halloween costume contest with categories such as Best Group Costume, Best Duo Costume, Best Adult Male Costume, Best Adult Female Costume, and Best Child Costume; racers may register at the information booth on race morning to enter the contest.
Proceeds support local programs and in-house initiatives run by Batavia United Way, including preschool scholarships, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, and the Adopt A Family holiday program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
