Fall Color 5K Run and Walk
The Fall Color 5K Run and Walk takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, as part of the Fall Color Festival at The Morton Arboretum. The event uses a USATF-certified 5K course (IL6002NM) that winds through the Arboretum’s wooded East Side.
In-person registration includes commemorative race apparel and general admission to the Arboretum on race day to explore 1,700 acres of collections, natural areas, and the Children’s Garden. A virtual participation option is available; virtual participants receive race packets and apparel by mail and a coupon for general admission to complete the distance during the two weeks before the race. Virtual results are recorded on the Arboretum’s RunSignUp platform.
Awards are given to the top overall male, female, and nonbinary finishers and to the top three finishers by sex and nonbinary category in each age division. The event also features a postrace party with live music, on-site food trucks, and a complimentary alcoholic beverage. Practical race services include water stations at the start line and on course, recovery food at the finish, free gear check for participants, portable restrooms, shoe recycling collection, and digital timing clocks on course. Strollers are permitted; motorized vehicles, bicycles, roller skates, and pets are prohibited on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
