About the race
The Elgin Valley Fox Trot takes place in Elgin, Illinois on June 6, 2027, marking the event's 50th edition. The event center is at 300 N Grove Ave and the program includes multiple running and walking options.

The 10 Mile course is USATF certified. It runs through Elgin’s north end neighborhoods toward Dundee along the Fox River Trail and returns downhill on Grove Avenue. Runners encounter Cedar Avenue just after the 8-mile mark; a timed Cedar Hill Challenge during the 9th mile awards prizes to the top male and top female in each 10-Mile age group for the fastest time up the Cedar Avenue hill. The 10-Mile registration fee is $50.
The 5K course begins at the corner of Grove Avenue and Ann Street, winds through the historic north end neighborhood, and finishes with a downhill on Grove Avenue. The 5K registration fee is $35. The 5K Youth division uses the same course and time; youth entries for age 19 and under have a $20 fee and compete for a traveling trophy, The Fox, awarded to the area high school with the most competitors.
The 2K Fun Walk follows the Fox River Trail, is not timed, and includes an entry bib and an event tee shirt; standard fee is $20 or $15 each for teams of four or more.
A post-race party accompanies the event with food and beverage options, awards presentations, a sponsor expo, music, dancing, treats for children, and food trucks.
