Dartmoor Granite 50
The Dartmoor Granite 50 is a long-distance running event that takes place in Devon. The route covers a total of 51 miles (approximately 82 km) and runs alongside the Dartmoor Full Circle 100. The course features over 2000 metres of total ascent, crossing several sections of open moorland and rugged terrain within the Dartmoor National Park.
Participants begin the journey at Scorriton Village Hall and follow the Dartmoor Way walking route. The path heads East, passing through several locations including Ashburton, Haytor, Manaton, and Chagford. The event concludes at the OCRA Pavilion in the Park in Okehampton. There is a maximum time allowance of 15 hours to complete the course.
The event requires specific prior experience. To be eligible, participants must be at least 21 years old and have completed a trail marathon within the two years preceding the race. Competitors are also required to have or gain night navigational skills, as these may be necessary during the final hours of the event.
Support provided during the race includes:
- 51 miles route with over 2000m ascent
- Three checkpoints located in sheltered halls offering hot food and drinks
- GPS trackers for all competitors
- Medical support and on-site changing and shower facilities at the finish
- Digital GPX files and maps with the pre-marked route
