Dale Head
The Dale Head Fell Race, organized by Keswick Athletic Club, is a traditional 7.8 km (4.8 miles) fell running event held in Borrowdale, starting at the Rosthwaite Institute. Featuring a challenging 675m (2215ft) climb, the course includes a steep ascent through Rigghead quarry to Dalehead Tarn and the summit cairn, with a varied descent back to the start. The race demands strong navigational skills due to often poor visibility and requires competitors to carry essential kit such as waterproofs, compass, and whistle.
It is part of the Borrowdale Shepherds Meet show and is known for its tough weather conditions and scenic Lake District terrain. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
