Ultra England 50
The Ultra England 50 is a point-to-point ultramarathon taking place in the Lake District National Park. The course follows the Cumbria Way for 54 miles, traveling from North to South starting in Keswick and finishing in Ulverston. The route involves approximately 2607 meters of total elevation gain.
Participants navigate through the Cumbrian landscape, with the course primarily following established trails. While the standard route utilizes the Cumbria Way, the organizers may include sections over Great Gable and Scafell Pike depending on permissions and weather conditions on the high ground. The event is held under a UKA license via the Trail Running Association and provides ITRA mountain points and a UTMB performance index.
Runners are supported through several checkpoints located along the route. These stations provide refreshments such as water, juice, sandwiches, fruit, and snacks, with hot food available at indoor locations. A mandatory kit must be carried by all participants for the duration of the event. Live online tracking is provided via GPS devices for all runners.
To enter, participants must meet specific criteria:
- Be at least 20 years old.
- Have successfully completed at least one organized event of marathon distance or longer.
Completion of the race within the 20-hour cut-off time earns a gold, silver, or bronze medal based on the finishing position. The event has a total capacity of 250 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
