Run through the streets of Chicago
The Bank of America Chicago Marathon is a major international running event that takes participants through the heart of Chicago. As a member of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, it attracts both elite athletes and recreational runners. The course covers a distance of 26.2 miles and has a strict completion time limit of six hours and 30 minutes (6:30:59).
Participants can access the event through several entry paths:
- Marathon (42.195 km): Available via a non-guaranteed drawing, time qualification, legacy status, or charity fundraising.
Guaranteed entry is available for "time qualifiers" who meet specific age and gender standards in a certified marathon completed after January 1, 2024. Furthermore, "legacy finishers" who have completed the race five or more times within the last 10 years are eligible for a spot. Another option for entry is the official Charity Program, where participants commit to fundraising at least $2,200 for a partner organization.
All participants must be at least 16 years old on race day. Registered runners are required to pick up their own participant packet, including their bib number and timing device, at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo prior to the event. A government-issued photo ID is necessary for packet pick-up. The event also features a Para Athletics Program to support accessibility for various athletes.
