Charles E Davis Independence Run : Eastport, Maine
The Charles E Davis Independence Run is a road event held in Eastport on July 5, 2026. It is in its 57th year and was elected to the Maine Running Hall of Fame in 2024; this will be its second year as a Hall of Fame race. The event center is Shead High School at 89 High Street, Eastport.

- 4 Mile walk
The run begins in Perry at the junction of Route 1 and Route 190 and follows Route 190 - County Road into Eastport. The walk begins on Carlow Island on Route 190 and follows the same route into Eastport. All participants are transported to their respective start locations by bus. Day-of registration and bib pickup take place at Shead High School.
Awards include overall top three male and female finishers, age group winners in ten-year bands from under 18 up through 80 and over, and one award for the top walker. Participants under 18 require parental permission. Registration fees vary by period with Early Bird, Regular, and Day of Event rates for run and walk categories. Financial assistance is available for registrants who cannot meet payment requirements. Small and larger donations are accepted, and volunteers are requested to support the event.
