Charles E Davis Independence Run
The Charles E Davis Independence Run is an annual road event in Eastport, Maine, scheduled for July 5, 2026. The race is in its 57th year and was elected to the Maine Running Hall of Fame in 2024; this is its second year with that designation.
The event offers the following options:
- 7 Mile Run
- 4 Mile Walk
Event logistics center on Shead High School in Eastport, which serves as the location for registration, bib pick-up, and bus transport to the start lines. Runners begin in Perry at the junction of Route 1 and Route 190 and proceed mainly along Route 190 - County Road to a finish in Eastport. Walkers start on Carlow Island on Route 190 and follow the same route to the Eastport finish.
Age groups are set in 10 year increments starting with under 18, then 19-29 through 70-79, with an 80 plus category. Awards include overall top three male and female, age group winners, and a single top walker award. Finisher medals will be presented and specific prizes are noted for overall and age group winners. The awards ceremony is scheduled after the last participant crosses the finish line.
The event runs in rainy conditions; decisions about severe weather such as lightning are made on race day. Online registration is preferred and day of registration is available at the school.
