9th Annual CFH 5k for Affordable Housing
The CFH 5k for Affordable Housing is a community event held at Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton, Virginia. This ninth annual edition offers participants the choice between an in-person event and a virtual participation window. The event supports a nonprofit organization established in 1979 that focuses on providing sustainable affordable housing, downpayment assistance, security deposit help, and emergency programs for seniors.
The event features a single primary distance:
- 5 km run or walk
Participants in the live event receive a custom bib and a commemorative race shirt. Awards are presented to the top two male and female finishers in both the adult (18 and over) and youth (17 and under) categories. The venue at Occoquan Regional Park provides a natural outdoor setting for the morning activity.
In addition to the run and walk, the event includes a Cornhole Toss fundraiser where individuals can participate for a fee to win gift card prizes. To support the organization's mobile food pantry, attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the park. Virtual participants can complete their distance at a location of their choice and upload their times via a tracking platform.
