Event Overview

The Food & Friends 10k is a charity run taking place in Rock Creek Park, Washington DC. It is held alongside a 5k event. The event supports Food & Friends, an organization providing free, medically tailored meals and nutrition services to people with serious illnesses.

Course Details

The courses are run on paved paths through Rock Creek Park. The route is described as mostly flat with one considerable hill. The 10k is two laps, and the 5k is an out-and-back route.

Water stations are provided along the course: five for the 10k and two for the 5k. Gatorade may be available at some stations.

Participation & Registration

Walkers and participants with strollers are welcome. A virtual run option is also available for those who cannot attend in person.

Registration is required in advance, as there is no on-site race day registration. Registration fees apply, with a price increase on race morning. A technical event shirt is guaranteed for runners who register by a specified date in September; for later registrants, shirts are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Runner Information

Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical event shirt, and chip timing. Awards are presented to the top three overall men and women, as well as to the top two in various age categories. Live results are posted online and accessible via a QR code at the event.

Packet pickup is available on-site, with a recommendation to arrive one hour before the scheduled start. Parking is available at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center.

Series Information

Participation earns points for the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, and Back of the Pack series, as well as a Fall Series. The "Back of the Pack" designation refers to a series for participants with average paces slower than a listed time (11:30 per mile), not a race cut-off. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
