2026 Food & Friends 5K & 10K
Food & Friends 5K & 10K is a chip-timed road running event held at Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series and toward the Summer Series. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
The course is paved and mostly flat with one considerable hill. The event format is:
- 5 km - out-and-back route
- 10 km - two laps of the same course
Runners receive a finisher medal and a technical event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for those registered before September 16. Water stations are provided along the courses at approximate mile markers, and some stations include Gatorade. Restrooms are located across from the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center, where parking is also available.
Awards are presented to the top three men and women overall and to top finishers in standard age categories. Live race results are posted via Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the event. Packet pickup is available at the event; there is no on-site race registration. The event benefits Food & Friends, a community organization that prepares and delivers medically tailored meals and provides nutrition services free of charge to clients.
