Cedar Lake Triathlon Series #6
This event is the final race of a six-race summer series held every other Thursday night at Cedar Lake in Chester, CT. The program offers individual and relay sprint races plus a super sprint race, run as part of the series.
Races and approximate distances:
- Individual and Relay Sprint: about 500 yard swim, 10 mile bike, 5K run
- Super Sprint: about 200 yard swim, 5 mile bike, roughly 1.7 mile run
Race format and rules are local and grassroots in style. Wetsuits are encouraged when water temperature is below 80 degrees and strongly encouraged for at least the first two races. Aqua jogging is not permitted. Participants under 13 are not eligible to start the super sprint; an accompanying adult may race free if they accompany a child for the entire race.
Registration is by preregistration only; online entry closes on race day and there is no onsite registration. Transition areas are fenced and hold about ten bikes per rack; bike racking is first come, first serve. The lake swim is an out-and-back with buoys kept to the left. Course notes include a fast, flat out-and-back run route along the lake and specific bike routing. Organizers may convert the race to a duathlon or a 5K or cancel in the event of inclement weather.
Key course rules include mandatory helmets on the bike, no drafting, no earbuds, no crossing yellow lines, and no animals in the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
