Niantic Bay Triathlon
The Niantic Bay Triathlon is a sprint distance triathlon held in the shoreline communities of Niantic and East Lyme. The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026. The course uses calm water in Niantic Bay and an oceanfront run that ends on the beach.
Distances:
- Swim: half mile in Niantic Bay with no waves or strong currents.
- Bike: 11.4 mile loop through East Lyme on rolling, shaded roads.
- Run: 3.2 mile oceanfront course with spectator viewing before a beach finish.
Team relay registration is available for two or three members so participants can share the swim, bike and run legs. An Aquabike registration is offered for athletes who choose not to or cannot complete the run.
The event lists HMF’s Susie Beris, MD Youth Running Program as its charity beneficiary. The Hartford Marathon Foundation organizes the race; the foundation is a nonprofit that produces road races and triathlons across Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The organizer also offers a free HMF Milestone membership with select perks and an optional fee based HMF Milestone+ program that includes additional apparel choice and a Mail My Packet service at some events.
