Carlisle Santa Dash
The Carlisle Santa Dash is a festive charity event on Sunday 6 December 2026 at Sheepmount Athletics Stadium and Bitts Park, Carlisle. The event supports Jigsaw Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice; the organisers aim for entry fees and donations to benefit the hospice.
There are two organised options:
- 5 km Santa Dash - Santa suit and race number required.
- 2 km Santa Fun Run/Walk - Santa suit provided; no race number required.
Santa suits are unisex with youth sizes available; suits and race numbers must be collected prior to the day at specified collection dates and locations. Children aged 5 and over have size options; entries under 5 are free. Elf suits or a Santa hat and medal are available for younger children. All finishers receive a festive medal.
The 5 km event will be manually timed and there are no winners prizes; the emphasis is on fundraising for Jigsaw. The 5 km route starts near Sheepmount and passes through Bitts Park and Carlisle city streets, using underpasses and pavements and finishing near Tullie House and Castle Street. Parts of the route are on roads open to traffic, so participants should take care. Several underpass sections have ramps but the Tullie House underpass exit uses stairs; lifts are available at the Millennium Bridge and at the Tullie House underpass when operational.
Local running clubs and event marshals support the event and festive refreshments and medals are provided for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
