2027 Carderock 5k, 10k, & Half
The event offers three distances along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Towpath at Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, MD. The courses are described as fast and flat and follow the towpath on a light gravel dirt trail.

Each route is an out-and-back once with minimal elevation gain. Walkers are welcome. The event is chip timed and provides a finisher's medal and a technical Dri-fit event shirt to participants. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
Water stations are provided along each course: one station on the 5k, four on the 10k, and ten on the half marathon, with Gatorade at some stations. Restrooms are located by the main parking lot. Packet pickup is available at the event. There will be no on-site registration for this race.
Points earned at this event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Spring Series. The Back of the Pack series is aimed at runners who average a slower pace. The race benefits Project Blackbird, a nonprofit that provides therapy and resources and promotes conversations about mental illness and eating disorders in underrepresented communities.
Awards include the top three men and women overall and first and second in standard age groups; top three overall finishers are not eligible for age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
