CARA RUN For Their Lives! 2026
CARA RUN For Their Lives! takes place at Kiwanis Park in Sanford, North Carolina on August 22, 2026. The event offers in-person races, a virtual run option, and a sleep option that includes mailed T shirts.
Distances offered include:
- 5K Run or Walk
- 10K Run or Walk
- 15K Challenge both 5K and 10K
- 1/2 mile Kids Fun Run for ages 12 and under
- Virtual option for 5K or 10K plus a Sleep option
The 5K and 10K courses run through Historic Sanford and the local Greenway and may include some hills. The Kids Fun Run uses a paved loop near the splash pad and playground; kids 12 and under complete the loop twice and receive a finisher medal. Leashed dogs and strollers are permitted on course.
The Challenge option combines both the 5K and 10K for a combined distance and awards a special Challenge medal. Awards are given to overall winners and to age group finishers for the 5K and 10K.
Proceeds support Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption, a no kill nonprofit animal shelter operating since 2004. Registration opens June 1 and T shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations completed by August 1. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
