The Shakori 40 Running Festival
The Shakori 40 Running Festival is a multi-day event held at the Shakori Hills Community Art Center in Pittsboro, North Carolina. The venue is located just outside Chapel Hill and is known for its scenic trails and natural surroundings. The festival features a cross-country style course that winds through the grounds of the art center.
Participants can choose from several individual and team-based distances:
- 40 mile Individual ultramarathon consisting of 10 laps.
- 40K Individual Open race consisting of 6 laps.
- 40 Mile Team Relay for teams of up to 10 members.
- 4 mile Open race.
The 40 Mile Team Relay uses an age-graded system, where the results incorporate age and gender to determine the overall winning team. In addition to the running events, the festival schedule includes a Friday night cookout and social activities. The venue offers facilities for camping, and the weekend includes live music, bonfires, and food for both runners and ticketed spectators.
