Event overview
The Capitol City Chase takes place on May 31, 2026, in Georgetown and at Fletcher’s Boathouse in Washington, DC. The event offers multiple race distances and awards points toward the organizer’s Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Spring Series. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available. The event benefits Warriors Ethos, an organization that assists service members, veterans, spouses, and caregivers with career planning and professional placement.

Course and race services
All races run on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path. The path is described as a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. The half marathon starts and finishes near the Potomac Boat Club in Georgetown and consists of two out-and-back segments. The 5k and 10k start and finish at Fletcher’s Boathouse; both are out-and-back routes, with the 10k covering the 5k route twice. The half, 10k, and 5k are chip timed. Participants receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Dri-Fit) event shirt. Water stations are provided roughly at the following mile markers: half - 2.1, 3.8, 4.3, 6.55, 8.8, 9.3, 11; 10k - 1.55, 3.1, 4.65; 5k - 1.55. Packet pickup is available at the event and there is no on-site race registration. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women and to first and second in specified age groups.
