Event overview
The Capitol City Chase on May 31, 2026 offers three race distances:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half marathon
The event is chip timed. Registered participants receive a finisher's medal and a technical event shirt. A virtual race option is available. Walkers are welcome. The race benefits the Warriors Ethos charity. Points from this race count toward the organizer’s Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, Back of the Pack Series and the Spring Series.
Course and logistics
Races take place on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path in Georgetown. The half marathon begins and ends near the Potomac Boat Club in Georgetown. The 5k and 10k begin and end at Fletcher’s Boathouse. The C&O Canal path is described as a light gravel dirt road with minimal elevation change. The 5k and 10k are out-and-back routes; the half runs along the canal as an out-and-back.
There are multiple water stations: seven on the half marathon, three on the 10k, and one on the 5k. Gatorade will be available at some stations. Port-a-johns and building restrooms are located near the respective start/finish areas. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing table but the organizer is not responsible.
Competition, results and awards
The half marathon has a completion time limit of 3 hours 15 minutes. Live race results will be posted online and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second place in standard age-group categories; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group prizes. There will be no on-site race registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
