2027 Capitol City Chase in Georgetown
The event features multiple road and trail distances in Georgetown, Washington, DC, with points counting toward year-long series and a spring series. The course follows the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path and includes a virtual race option. Walkers are welcome.
Distances offered:
- 5k out-and-back on the C&O Canal path.
- 10k out-and-back on the C&O Canal path.
- Half marathon out-and-back along the C&O Canal; light gravel and minimal elevation change.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (drifit) event shirt, and chip timing. Water stations are placed along each course: seven stations for the half, three for the 10k, and one for the 5k; some stations also provide Gatorade. Port-a-johns are located near the check-in and registration area.
Packet pickup is available at the event. There is no on-site race registration. The organizer does not provide an official bag check; items may be left at the timing table but are left at the owner’s risk.
The race benefits Warriors Ethos. Live results are posted online and a QR code at the race provides immediate access; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to top finishers in standard age categories.
