Capitol City Chase - Georgetown
The event offers three distances on the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal path in Georgetown, Washington, DC, using light gravel and flat trail surfaces. Walkers are welcome and a virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Points from this event count toward the organizer's Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack Series, and toward the Spring Series.
Distances
- Half marathon: out-and-back along the C&O Canal, light gravel, minimal elevation change
- 10k: out-and-back on the C&O Canal path
- 5k: out-and-back on the C&O Canal path, flat trail
Runners receive a finisher’s medal, a technical (Dri-FIT) event shirt, and the event is chip timed. Water and aid stations are provided—seven along the half, three along the 10k, and one along the 5k—with Gatorade available at some stations. There is no official bag check; items may be left at the timing tent but organizers are not responsible for valuables.
Awards are presented for the top three men and women overall and for specified age-group places; overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about 90 minutes before an event start to check in.
Parking options include several garages and spaces along Water Street; the Potomac Boat Club address (3530 Water St NW) is near the start/finish. The event location coordinates are 38.904338, -77.070138.
