Canterbury Trail Marathon & Half Marathon
The Canterbury Trail Marathon & Half Marathon is an off-road running event located south of Canterbury. The course takes participants through the Kentish landscape using a combination of rural footpaths, scenic trails, and quiet country lanes. Runners will traverse rolling farmland and historic pathways, encountering a mix of wide tracks and technical trail sections.
Two distances are available for participants:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
The event center is situated at the Canterbury Christ Church University Sports Centre. This facility provides changing rooms, showers, toilets, and a recovery area with free massages. There are also on-site options for hot and cold food and drinks. The event uses live tracking technology, permitting spectators to monitor progress in real time.
Participants must adhere to a mandatory kit list for both distances. Navigation requirements differ by race length; the Marathon features minimal way marking and requires runners to navigate using a downloaded route on a phone or watch. In contrast, the Half Marathon is way-marked.
The Marathon has a time limit of 7 hours and includes four aid stations located at Littlebourne, Kingston Barn, and Lower Hardres. The Half Marathon has a 3.5-hour cut-off and two aid stations at Littlebourne. These stations provide water, food, and hot and cold beverages. All participants must be at least 18 years old.
