Canterbury Trail Marathon & Half Marathon
The Canterbury Trail Marathon & Half Marathon is a Sporting Events UK race set in the Kentish countryside south of Canterbury, with event HQ at CCCU Sports Centre, Pilgrims Way, Canterbury, CT1 1XS. Routes run through a mix of trails, rural footpaths and quiet country lanes, including both wide runnable tracks and more technical trail sections.
Distances
- Half Marathon : Way marked, 2 checkpoints, cut-off 3.5 hours.
- Marathon : Navigation required, 4 checkpoints, cut-off 7 hours.
Checkpoint locations are published for each race. The half marathon has two checkpoints at The Ivy Barn, Littlebourne. The marathon has four checkpoints: The Ivy Barn (CP1 and CP4), Kingston Barn (CP2) and Lower Hardres Village Hall (CP3). All checkpoints provide toilets, food, hot and cold drinks, and water refill. Full checkpoint cut-off times are published before the event.
Marathon runners must navigate independently; the route has minimal way marking. Downloading the route to a phone or watch before the event is mandatory and a route download check will take place at Event HQ. Advanced entries only; no on the day entries. Minimum age is 18 on race day.
Event HQ facilities include showers and changing rooms, hot and cold food and drinks, free massages, a chill-out and recovery area, live tracking via OpenTracking, and toilets. £1 from every entry is donated to the Kent Neuro Therapy Centre; entrants may also fundraise or donate at registration.
