Deal Castle 5-Mile
The Deal Castle 5-Mile is a community road race held on 1 November on the Deal seafront. The event is organised by Deal Tri Club and uses the promenade adjacent to Deal Castle, with Race HQ at the Sea Scout Hut on Marine Road.
The main event is an out and back course that heads toward Kingsdown and returns past Deal Pier. The route is described as flat and fast, is marshalled along its length, and includes a sweeper marshal who accompanies the last runner. Finishers receive medals; prize presentations take place at the Sea Scout Hut. Cash prizes are awarded to the overall male and female winners. A shared cash pot of £200 will be awarded if the course male record (2014, 00:24:26) or female record (2005, 00:27:47) is broken.
Other practical details: mobile race results can be sent by text, parking is available along the seafront and in town car parks, and race registration is managed on the day and online. Headphone policy follows England Athletics guidance: bone conduction headphones are permitted; in-ear and over-ear headphones are not permitted.
