Whitstable & Herne Bay MoRun : event summary
The Whitstable & Herne Bay MoRun is a charity running event supporting Movember and men's health. The event offers multiple chip timed distances and a children’s race, all held at Hampton Pier Recreation Ground, Herne Bay CT6 8EJ, along the seafront.
Distances offered:
- 1.5 km mini MoRun for children
- 5 km MoRun
- 10 km MoRun
- Half marathon which includes an initial 1.1 km section then the 10 km out and back twice
The course is predominantly hard surface along the seafront with a grass village hub. The route is dog friendly and generally suitable for buggy running, though some sections can be narrow. Runners should follow signs and marshals and keep to the left unless guided otherwise. The 5 km route turns at 2.5 km and the 10 km turns at 5 km.
Race features and services include full chip timing, instant results, trophies, unique medals and exclusive event headbands, water stations, finish line sweets, marked and marshalled course sections, and medical cover. Mini MoRunners receive a mini medal, chip timing, headband, drinks and sweets and prizes for first boy and girl.
Event logistics note limited parking near the hub with a free public car park on Swalecliffe Avenue opposite the event. Herne Bay railway station is about a 10 to 15 minute walk. Registration happens on the morning and race packs include the chip on the bib; bag storage is available but limited. The organiser runs a fancy dress competition and awards spot prizes for best dressed and other categories.
