Whitstable & Herne Bay MoRun : event overview
The Whitstable & Herne Bay MoRun is a seaside running event at Hampton Pier Recreation Ground, Herne Bay, CT6 8EJ. The event offers multiple chip timed distances and a separate mini race for children.
Available distances:
- 1.5k Mini MoRun (chip timed)
- 5k MoRun (chip timed)
- 10k MoRun (chip timed)
- Half Marathon MoRun (chip timed)
The course runs predominantly on hard surfaces along the seafront, with a grass village hub. The route is dog friendly and suitable for running with a buggy, though some sections are narrow. Runners should stay on the left unless directed otherwise; marshals will be on course. The 5k route turns at 2.5k, the 10k turns at 5k, and the half marathon includes a 1.1k section before repeating the 10k out-and-back twice.
Participants receive a MoRunning headband and a medal, and there are additional prizes for fastest Mo, best dressed, and other spot categories. The event provides water and sweets at the finish, toilets at the event hub, limited bag storage under manned gazebos, and instant chip timing results. Parking near the park is limited; there is a free public car park opposite the hub. Herne Bay railway station is within roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk.
The MoRun series supports Movember, raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
