Event Overview
The Whitstable & Herne Bay MoRun takes place at the Hampton Pier Recreation Ground in Herne Bay. This event supports the Movember charity, raising awareness for men's health initiatives, including mental health and cancer prevention. Participants run along the seafront on a course that consists primarily of hard surfaces, with the event hub located on a grass area.
The event features four different distances to accommodate various preferences:
- 1.5 km (Mini MoRun)
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
Course Details
The routes are predominantly flat, following the coastline. The 5 km race involves a turnaround at the 2.5 km mark, while the 10 km follows an out-and-back route with a turn at the 5 km mark. The Half Marathon consists of an initial 1.1 km section followed by two laps of the 10 km out-and-back course. The paths are dog-friendly and accessible for buggies, though some sections are narrow.
Participant Experience
All participants receive a race chip for timing, providing instant results upon crossing the finish line. Every finisher is awarded a unique MoRun medal and a themed headband. Additional "Mo Medals" are presented for various categories, such as best costume or fastest times.
The event hub includes a bag storage area and toilets. Refreshments, including water and sweets, are provided at the finish line. Parking at the site is limited, and visitors are encouraged to use local council parking options within a short walk of the Recreation Ground.
