Brutal @ Chawton is a trail running event at Brick Kiln Farm and Chawton Forest. The route includes muddy, rough woodland used for 4x4 events with large water-filled craters, a steep-sided valley, a mix of wide rides and narrow technical trails, and large open cast mining holes with steep descents and climbs. Car sharing is available.
Distances:
- 5 km - single lap. Entry limit: 125.
- 10 km - two laps. Entry limit: 125.
- 5 km Canicross - same course, run with a dog. Entry limit: 30.
- 10 km Canicross - same course, run with a dog. Entry limit: 15.
Entries, fees and rules
There are early bird and standard entry fees listed for senior and junior categories. Early bird fees from 30 October were: 5 km and 5 km Canicross £22.40, 10 km and 10 km Canicross £24.00. From 12 January standard fees were: 5 km senior £28.00, junior £23.00; 10 km senior £30.00, junior £25.00. Juniors are defined as under 16 on race day. Minimum ages: 5 km = 8, 10 km = 13.
Canicross has a separate wave with a rolling start; all dogs must wear an appropriate running harness and remain the responsibility of their owners. Dog entries are limited and runners may only run with a dog if they have the canicross option. There is a 75 minute cut off to complete the first lap for those doing the two-lap 10 km option. Entry withdrawal is possible up to the Thursday before the event and withdrawn entry credit may be used at another Brutal event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
