Brazos Bend 100

Brazos Bend 100 is a December trail event held at Brazos Bend State Park, located south of Houston and Sugar Land. The event offers multiple distances on a looped trail course that is nearly flat and runs through wooded areas and open surfaces.

Distances include:

• Half Marathon
• Marathon
• 50K / 50 Mile
• 100K / 100 Mile

The course is 99.9 percent flat with a single ten foot hill. Trail surfaces vary between hard crushed rock, soft hiking trails under tree canopy, and smooth horse trails. The park is noted for abundant birdlife and American Alligators; the organizer reports no incidents involving wildlife.

The 100 mile distance is an official Western States Endurance Run qualifier; runners who finish the 100 mile within 32 hours earn eligibility for the following year’s Western States lottery. Official time cutoffs published by the organizer include 32 hours for 100 mile, 31.5 hours for 100K, 31 hours for the marathon, and 30.5 hours for the half marathon.

Pacer and crew rules are specified: pacer registration opens in the final month before the race, one pacer at a time on foot, 100 mile runners may have a pacer for the final two loops, 100K runners for the final loop, and no pacers for marathon or half marathon. Crew and spectators access aid stations in limited amounts; crew may not use aid station supplies.

Event awards include buckles for 100M and 100K, medals for marathon and half marathon, and a cash purse for the 100 mile overall top three finishers. Park passes are handled through event registration and state park camping must be reserved through the park system. Volunteer roles and merchandise are part of the event program.
