Sugar Land Turkey Trot : 41st Annual
The Sugar Land Turkey Trot is an annual community running event held in the Sugar Creek neighborhood of Sugar Land. The event is presented by Shottenkirk Fort Bend Kia and is scheduled for Thanksgiving morning. Registration is open for the 2026 edition.
The race traces its origins to 1986 and is described as the original Turkey Trot for the Houston area. The event also serves as a local tribute from family and friends to the race founder.
Three event options are offered:
- 1 mile kids run
- 5 miles timed race
- 2.8 miles family walk or jog
Prizes are awarded to the overall male and female finishers in the Open and Masters categories of the 5 mile race. The event features sponsors from the local community and presents a family-oriented atmosphere focused on multiple distances and timed competition for the main race.
Results, photos, route details, and sponsor information are maintained for each edition. The structure includes a dedicated timed race alongside shorter and noncompetitive options to accommodate different participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
