Turkey Trot - Sugar Land (41st edition)

The Sugar Land Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning road event held in Sugar Land, TX, presented as the 41st Shottenkirk Fort Bend Kia Sugar Land Turkey Trot in honor of former race director Andy Stewart. The course begins with a fast downhill first mile through the Sugar Creek subdivision and is described as a certified, loop course with each mile marked.

The event program includes:

• 1 mile Sean Scroggins’ Memorial Kids Mile for ages 12 and under.
• 5 miles Coach Andy’s competitive chip-timed race with a 15:00 pace per mile time limit.
• 2.8 miles Aunt Jean’s family walk and jog; casual and non-competitive.

The 5-mile race uses chip-tag timing with results posted at RunHoustonTiming.net and awards for overall, masters 40+, and top three in five-year age groups from 14-and-under through 75+. Strollers are permitted only in the kids mile and the 2.8-mile walk/jog; strollers are not allowed in the 5-mile race. No dogs, bikes, or scooters are allowed on course.

Packet pickup occurs on the two days before the race at designated locations including Fleet Feet Sugar Land. Race-day packet pickup is available for out-of-town participants only; there is no race day registration. Event shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after November 16. The post-race area features an awards ceremony, costume contest, and snacks including coffee and doughnuts.

The Turkey Trot supports local charities and collects canned goods for the East Fort Bend Human Needs Ministry. Medical support is provided by Sugar Land Fire Department EMTs.
