Fell Race at Arncliffe Village Green

The Arncliffe Gala is a fell running event sanctioned by the British Open Fell Racing Association (BOFRA) and held in the Yorkshire Dales. The senior competition features a 3 km (1.9 miles) course with a total ascent of 140 m (459 ft). The event is categorized as a BS race, requiring specific mountain skills (PM) due to the nature of the terrain. The minimum age for the senior race is 17 years.

Participants can choose from several distance options based on age categories:

  • 1.3 km with 33 m of climb for Under 9s.
  • 1.5 km with 80 m of climb for Under 12s.
  • 1.8 km with 108 m of climb for Under 14s.
  • 3 km with 140 m of climb for Under 17s and Seniors.

The venue for all activities is the Arncliffe Village Green. Registration is available via pre-entry or on the day of the event. While the fell races are the primary focus of this FRA-permitted gathering, a separate 4 mile road race also takes place earlier in the afternoon. There are no entry fees for the general Gala itself, though specific fees apply for race participants. Age categories are determined by the age of the runner on May 1st. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
