Stanza Stones Winter Edition

This is a 24 hour, linear fell route that runs from Marsden in West Yorkshire to Ilkley. The route covers around 50 to 51 miles with over 6600 ft of ascent and passes across moorland in the South Pennines. The route visits the six Stanza Stones, each bearing a poem by Simon Armitage connected to the theme of water; the stone names are Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.

The course includes a visit to the historical village of Haworth and a final climb over Ilkley Moor before the finish. Checkpoints are placed along the route, six in total with three indoors, and these provide food and drink. The event provides live tracking, a professional medical and rescue support team, a finishers meal and a finishers memento. Changing rooms with hot showers are available at the finish and there is an option to register at either end of the route.

Registration is offered on the evening before and on the morning of the event at the published locations. The minimum age to enter is 20 years. Further event administration details such as registration windows, entry periods and optional extras are managed by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
