Stanza Stones Winter Edition
This is a 24 hour, linear route of 51 miles with over 6600 ft of ascent. The route starts in Marsden, West Yorkshire and finishes in Ilkley. The course crosses moorland of the South Pennines, passes the historical village of Haworth, and climbs over Ilkley Moor near the end.
Runners visit six Stanza Stones along the route. Each stone bears a poem by Simon Armitage and is linked to the theme of water. The six stone names are Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.
The event includes live tracking supplied by Open Tracking and six checkpoints, three of which are indoors. Checkpoints provide food and drink. A professional medical and rescue support team is provided. Finishing competitors receive a meal and a memento. Changing rooms and hot showers are available at the finish. There is an option to register at either end of the route.
Additional paid options include a coach from Ilkley to the start, mixed sex bunk rooms at the finish venue, and an optional quality cotton t shirt. The minimum age to enter is 20 years.
