Stanza Stones Winter Edition

This is a 24 hour, 51 mile linear route with over 6600 ft of ascent, starting at Marsden in West Yorkshire and finishing in Ilkley. The route visits the six Stanza Stones, each bearing a poem by Simon Armitage that links to the theme of water. The six stone names are Snow, Rain, Mist, Dew, Puddle and Beck.

The course crosses moorland of the South Pennines, passes through the historical village of Haworth, and includes a climb over Ilkley Moor near the finish. Participants follow a point to point route between the published start and finish locations.

Event services include live tracking supplied by Open Tracking, six checkpoints of which three are indoors and all provide food and drink, and a professional medical and rescue support team. Finishers receive a meal and a memento. The finish venue offers changing rooms and hot showers. There is an option to register at either end of the route.

Entry terms note a minimum age of 20 years. Entry fees are listed for UKA members and non members, and an instalment payment option is available. Additional paid options include coach transfer from Ilkley to the start, a bunk room booking at the finish venue with a per person per night charge and an optional event t shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
