About the race
The Heatwave Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and associated events are scheduled for July 11, 2027 in Des Moines, Iowa. The program includes in-person races, a kids dash, volunteer-then-run option, and a virtual event.

Many in-person registrations include a custom bib, designer shirt, and finisher medal. The 1 Mile and Kids Dash are described as untimed. Chip timing with live results and awards is noted for the primary road distances. Free event photos are provided, and free ice cream is listed at the finish.
Youth pricing is offered; for the 5K and 10K a reduced rate applies for ages 12 and under. The virtual entry includes a digital bib, event shirt, finisher medal, and shipping of the race packet; mailed packets are scheduled to ship the Wednesday after the event. Virtual participants can submit times beginning on the event day and may upload photos to the participant album.
