Event Overview
The Turkey Shuffle is a running event held in November at Lady Bird Johnson Trail Park in San Antonio. It is a Bigfoot Running Company event.
Event Distances
Participants can choose from several race distances:
- Kids Dash: A short, untimed sprint of about 50 meters for children aged 10 and under.
- 1 Mile Run: An untimed run.
- 5K Run (3.1 miles): A chip-timed run.
- 10K Run (6.22 miles): A chip-timed run.
- Virtual Run: An option to participate remotely.
There is also a "Volunteer then Run 5K" option, which is limited to the first 20 sign-ups.
Event Features
The event includes music from DJ Sasquatch. All finishers receive a medal and a t-shirt. Post-race snacks and refreshments are available.
A Thanksgiving-themed costume contest is held, with the winner receiving a "Biggest Turkey" trophy and a prize pack. Awards are given for the 5K and 10K distances, including overall trophies, masters category recognition pins, and age group award pins in three places for many categories.
The course takes place on park and greenbelt trails. The surface may be a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and dirt paths. Aid stations with water are on the course.
Registration and Logistics
Packet pickup is available on race day for 1.5 hours before the start. Youth pricing is available for the 5K and 10K for participants 12 and under. Group discounts are offered, and there is a referral discount program. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
