Calaverita Run 5K & Family Walk
The Calaverita Run 5K & Family Walk is an evening event held in San Antonio, Texas, to observe the tradition of Día de los Muertos. The event takes place at 100 E Grayson St and focuses on community, culture, and remembrance through fitness.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 3.1 Miles (5K run)
- 1 Mile family walk
The course features decorated altars and music. One specific tradition integrated into the event allows participants to carry a photo of a loved one on their race bib. After the activity, these photos can be placed on a community altar. Attendees are encouraged to wear calavera-inspired outfits, contributing to the visual spirit of the route.
Post-event activities take place in a festive setting involving community art and local vendors. Registration includes different price tiers such as early bird, regular, and late pricing for the 3.1 Miles distance. For the family walk, options are available for both individuals and groups of four. The first 250 registered participants receive a branded fanny pack and an LED armband. All event fees are non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
