The Wiener Run 5K & 10K San Antonio
The Wiener Run takes place at Southside Lions Park in San Antonio. The event features a springtime theme combining running with a community picnic and support for a local dachshund rescue organization. Organizers collect dog food, toys, and treats for the rescue, and adoptable dogs may be present.
The offered distances are:
- Kids Dash (20-yard dash for ages 10 and under)
- 1 Mile Run
- 5K Run (chip-timed)
- 10K Run (chip-timed)
- Virtual Run
All participants receive a finisher medal and a race t-shirt. A free hot dog and beverage are provided to every runner at the finish line. The event includes a live DJ and announces runners' names as they finish. The top overall male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K receive a Bigfoot Trophy. Awards are also given for age group winners and first Masters (40+) finishers. Aid stations are available on the course.
The race surface includes a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and grass paths. Packet pickup begins 1.5 hours before the race start. The event happens rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
