Event overview
The Wiener Run 5K & 10K in San Antonio is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Southside Lions Park (3900 Pecan Valley Dr, San Antonio, TX 78210). The event is produced by Bigfoot Running Company and includes on-site activities such as a live DJ, post-race awards, and hot dog and beverage service at the finish line. A portion of proceeds will be donated to a local wiener dog rescue, and organizers will collect dog food, toys, and treats. The event will proceed rain or shine. Shirt orders are guaranteed if submitted at least ten days before race day.
Race distances and awards
- Kids Dash - short dash for ages 10 and under (about 20 yards), not timed.
- 1 Mile - not chip-timed.
- 5K - chip-timed; age-group awards and overall trophies.
- 10K - chip-timed; age-group awards and overall trophies.
- Volunteer then Run (5K) - volunteer role followed by the 5K.
- Virtual Run - remote participation option.
For the 5K and 10K, awards include a Bigfoot Trophy for 1st overall male and female, recognition for 1st Masters (40+), and standard age-group medals. Age groups run from 10 & under through 70+.
Logistics and volunteer information
Course surfaces include pavement, crushed granite, and grass paths. Aid stations are available along the course. Volunteer opportunities include a “Volunteer Then Run” 5K option (limited to the first five sign-ups) and several non-running roles; volunteers receive event shirts and other listed benefits. Course and event activities take place in public park spaces; participants should expect other park users such as dog walkers and picnickers.
