NEF 5K Run/Walk
The NEF 5K Run/Walk is an annual community event held at the Northwest Vista College campus in San Antonio. Organized by the Northside Education Foundation, the event supports local educators and students through innovative educational programs. The primary course is an official 5K (3.1 miles) distance that utilizes the campus streets.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K run or walk
- Kids Run for participants aged 10 and under
The 5K course is stroller-friendly, though skates, scooters, and bicycles are prohibited. Due to safety regulations, dogs are not permitted at the event, with the exception of service animals. Participants have the option to register for chip timing for the 5K for an additional fee. Finisher medals are awarded to the first 1600 participants to cross the finish line.
The event includes a vendor fair and race day registration. Awards are presented to the overall male and female winners, as well as the top three finishers in various male and female age categories ranging from 15 and under to 70 and over. Parking is available on the Northwest Vista Campus, with specific lot access dependent on arrival time due to street closures for the race route.
