NEF 5K Run/Walk
The NEF 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for May 2 at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas. The main distance is an official 5K (3.1 miles). Event categories include a chip timed 5K, a non chip timed 5K, kids runs for young children, and a Sleepwalker virtual category.
The kids program is split by age groups with a very short out and back distance. There is no additional charge for the kids runs but all youth participants must be registered for the 5K and wear a race bib. Children may run both the kids run and the 5K. Parents or guardians may jog next to children in the youngest group.
Campus parking is available with specific lots prioritized for arrivals; the public route will use nearby streets and some areas will be closed early to mark the course. The route is stroller friendly. Skates, scooters, and bikes are not permitted. Dogs are not allowed except for service animals. Finisher medals will be given to the first 1,600 finishers.
Awards for chip timed 5K results include overall male and female and 1st through 3rd in standard age groups (15 and under, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). Packet pick up is available at campus sites and at the Northside Education Foundation office on April 29 and April 30. Event shirts are optional for adults and children; a shirt order will be placed in mid April and extras will be limited. No refunds or deferrals are given for personal decisions not to attend.
