Event Details
The NEF 5K Run/Walk takes place at Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas. The event is organized by the Northside Education Foundation (NEF).
Course and Activities
The main event is an official 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk. A separate, short out-and-back Kids Run is held for children aged 10 and under. The course is described as stroller-friendly. Skates, scooters, and bicycles are not permitted, and dogs are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
Registration and Fees
Registration is available in several categories:
- 5K - Chip Timed
- 5K - NOT chip timed
- Kids, Ages 4-11
- Kids, Ages 0-3
- Sleepwalker (virtual participant)
Pricing is tiered, with adult registration starting at $30 and increasing as the event date approaches. A $5 surcharge applies for chip timing in the 5K. Children aged 4-11 can register for $10 with a paid adult, and children aged 0-3 are free with a paid adult. Race shirts are an optional purchase for all participants, with an order deadline noted.
Awards and Amenities
Finisher medals are awarded to the first 1600 participants to cross the finish line. Awards are given to chip-timed 5K runners only, including overall male/female winners and the top three in standard age groups.
Logistics
Packet pickup is available at select campuses during race week or at the NEF office on specific dates before the event. On-site race day registration and packet pickup begin at 7:00 am. Parking is available on the college campus, with specific lots opening at different times. Carpooling is encouraged due to expected high attendance.
