Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Houston
The event takes place at Kingdom Builders Center in Houston, Texas and offers multiple race distances through nearby parks and green belts. Course surfaces may include pavement, crushed granite, and occasional dirt paths. Aid stations are located along the route to provide water and on-course assistance.
Races offered include:
- Kids Dash about 20 yards for children 10 and under
- 1 Mile run open to all ages
- 5K (3.11 miles) chip timed
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles) chip timed
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) chip timed
- Virtual Half Marathon option
- Volunteer then Run option includes a chip timed 5K
A costume contest is held before the race with judging based on creativity and authenticity and a prize package for the winner. A post-race rally tent hosts live music and offers Mexican treats and drinks, with awards announced there. Standard awards for 5K, Quarter and Half include overall trophies for first male and female, masters recognition pins, and age-group pins across brackets up to 70+.
Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. Volunteers may serve as course monitors or aid station staff and receive volunteer benefits as described.
