Shipley Donut Dash
The Shipley Donut Dash is a running event taking place at the Sam Houston Race Park in Houston, Texas. The event features multiple distances for in-person participants:
- 10K (6.2 Miles)
- 5K (3.1 Miles)
- Kids Dash (1 Mile)
The in-person 10K and 5K races are officially timed using a disposable B-Tag timing system attached to the race bib. Participants encounter two donut stations along the course providing donut holes. For those unable to attend the physical location, virtual options are available for the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon, and Kids Dash.
The event supports Kids’ Meals, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that delivers healthy lunches to pre-school aged children living in poverty. All participants receive a dri-fit race shirt, a donut-shaped finisher medal, and a race bib. Upon crossing the finish line, runners are provided with a donut and coffee.
The venue includes parking at the Sam Houston Race Park. The event allows strollers, provided that participants start at the back of their wave, but for safety reasons, animals are not permitted. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in various age groups ranging from 10 and under to 75 and over.
Packet pick-up is available the day before the race at a designated location, or on the morning of the event for an additional fee. There is also an option for domestic participants to have their race packets shipped to a home address if selected during the registration period.
