Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Galveston

This event takes place at Stewart Beach in Galveston and features multiple running options, a virtual race, a pre-race costume contest, and a post-race rally with music and refreshments. The course runs near the shoreline and follows paved streets through Galveston; mixed surfaces such as crushed granite and dirt paths may appear on parts of the route. Aid stations on course provide water and on-course assistance. Packet pickup is offered 1.5 hours before the event start. Shirt guarantee cutoff is 10 days before the event.

A judged costume contest is held before the race and awards a Best Costume prize based on creativity, authenticity, and overall impact. Chip timing is used for the 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon. Standard awards include first overall trophies for male and female finishers, masters recognition pins for age 40+, and age-group pins or medals across divisions from 10 and under through 70+.

Volunteer opportunities include a non-running Full Race Volunteer role with course monitor and aid station duties that earns a race shirt, souvenir medal subject to availability, VIP access, and a choice of a free future race entry or a $20 pre-paid digital gift card. The Volunteer then Run option combines an early volunteer shift with a chip-timed run and includes a custom bib, tee, and finisher medal.
