Galveston Ultra Trail
The Galveston Ultra Trail is a multi-distance running and rucking event held on Galveston Island with the finish line and festival at East Beach. The course uses beachfront terrain and follows the shoreline for long stretches, with hard packed sand conditions that depend on tide and exposure to wind and waves. Aid stations provide water, electrolytes, and snacks along the course.
The event program includes races for a range of participants:
- 50K point to point ultra across Galveston Island
- 50K Relay teams of 2 to 5 exchanging approximately every 10K
- Half Marathon along beachfront
- 10K along coastline
- 5K Run/Walk on the beach
- 5K Ruck with standard ruck weight guidelines
- 1 Mile Walk family friendly beach walk
- Kids Run free 1K for young runners
Logistics for the 50K ultra include a shuttle to the start, a gear drop that is transported to the finish, and parking at East Beach that requires a venue pass per vehicle. Relay teams are advised to plan a team vehicle to reach exchange points, some driving on sand, since no shuttle is provided for relay legs. Finish area amenities include event shirts, finisher medals, live music, and food trucks. Cutoff times are specified per distance in the event details.
