Galveston Ultra Trail : Galveston Island, Texas
The Galveston Ultra Trail is a beach-based running event on Galveston Island featuring a point-to-point 50K and several shorter distances. The main 50K follows the island shoreline for its entire length, with miles of open beachfront and continuous Gulf views. Course conditions include hard-packed sand that can vary with the tide and minimal elevation change.
Multiple race formats are offered, including a 50K relay with teams of 2–5 runners and exchange points approximately every 10K. The event provides logistical support such as a shuttle to the 50K start, fully supported aid stations with water, electrolytes, and snacks, chip timing, and clear course markings. Finish-line amenities at East Beach include live music, food trucks, event shirts, and Texas-size finisher medals.
Some distances have published time cutoffs, for example: the 50K and 50K relay have a 9-hour cutoff, the Half Marathon has an 8.5-hour cutoff, and the 10K lists an 8-hour cutoff. The program also includes a 5K ruck with standard ruck weight guidelines and a free kids kilometer designed for young runners.
